Helldivers 2 hotfix takes swings at a whole hive of crash culprits, so you should be able to deploy more reliably now-
It looks like the patriotic community managers of the Super Earth Ministry of Truth were bang on the money—a hotfix for Helldivers 2 crashes has been rolled out, effective immediately, ahead of the new explosive Warbond later this week.
In case you haven’t gotten your boots on the ground recently—Helldivers 2 has been plagued with crashes for a hot second, which would mainly occur at extraction. This didn’t feel great, since most missions tend to take a while—upwards of 30 minutes if you’re scrounging up all the samples like a scientific, heavily-armoured Scrooge McDuck (the Ministry of Truth does not recommend putting all of your samples into a pool and diving into them).
Those crashes should be mostly fixed via Patch 01.000.202—which …
Read moreHey, when did 1000 W PSUs get so affordable- This Super Flower Platinum is $125 right now-
Did I miss the memo? I’ve been thinking a 1000 W PSU was still something to spend a couple hundred bucks on, and yet you can actually score ’em for much less. That makes a big change from the days of cryptocurrency mining and surging power demands that saw these high wattage boxes selling for above average prices.
The PSU that brought this to my attention is the Super Flower Leadex Platinum SE, a 1000 W power supply with an 80 Plus Platinum efficiency rating. It’s down from $250 to $125 at Newegg right now.
You might not be familiar with the brand Super Flower, though they’re becoming a bit more of a known quantity for power supplies today. The key thing is they’re not actually new to the market—they’ve been producing power supplies for years. They used to just manufac…
Read moreI spoke to an Nvidia AI-powered NPC about his ramen and his responses were frighteningly good-
I just had a conversation with an in-game NPC that could easily appear scripted. Except it wasn’t, at all. I asked a question, the NPC answered, and all thanks to Nvidia’s ACE technology and Convai.
You might have caught sight of Nvidia ACE in action during the company’s Special Address stream. It’s essentially a technology that allows in-game NPCs to react and respond to players in real-time, with voiced dialogue and animations. Nvidia’s been showing off the same tech demo called Kairos, which takes place inside a ramen restaurant in a cyberpunk world, since ACE was announced back at Computex. Over at CES 2024, I got to try it out for myself.
In the tech demo—which is build in Unreal Engine 5 and uses a platform from AI startup Convai—you play as Kai, and you’re…
Read moreKingdom Come- Deliverance 2’s trailer is bawdy, bloody and gives us a siege tease-
Watch On
Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is right at the top of my list of games I’m ravenous for, so its appearance at Summer Game Fest has made sitting through Big Geoff’s showcase absolutely worthwhile.
This is our second look at the game, and it’s pretty much got it all: folk getting battered, buddies getting into trouble, good times and bad times, guns, swords and a wee taste of siege warfare.
We already saw some of the new ranged weapons in action in the last trailer, so seeing what we’ll be getting up to when invaders are at the walls was the highlight this time. We’ll be knocking down ladders, dropping rocks on heads, and no doubt getting stuck into some tense duels on the battlements. Even this brief glimpse got me all fired up.
While Kingdom Com…
Read moreSpiderweb Software is remastering another classic RPG-
Spiderweb Software’s latest foray onto Kickstarter is another runaway success, which means that a remastered version of the “epic cult classic” RPG Geneforge 2 will soon be on the way.
Spiderweb makes a very particular type of RPG: Light on eye candy (very light) and other effects, but very deep, flexible, and open-ended. The studio—basically a two-person operation, Jeff Vogel and his wife Marian Krizsan—has been making RPGs like this for years, and it’s found a small but committed audience. I jokingly (and very affectionately) called Queen’s Wish: The Conqueror Spiderweb’s “latest crappy-looking RPG” when it came out in 2019, but despite the 1980s-style visuals it holds a very positive user rating on Steam.
Like a lot of small developers, Spiderweb took to Kicks…
